Island House Restaurant Guide

Alice Faye’s – We like it here for the live bands on the weekends. Good bar too. www.alice-fayes.com

The Boiling Pot – Cajun style boiled seafood – crab, crawfish and shrimp. Good place to dine with the kids because no one will notice how loud they are.

Crab-N – This casual seafood restaurant is located in City by the Sea. It has a waterfront view and quality seafood. One of their dishes is a crab casserole that is very good. Fried seafood is a solid choice here as well. Reasonable prices on wine.

Paradise Key Island Grill & Dockside Bar (formerly Big Jon's Palapa Bar & Grill) – This is a fantastic place for outside dining. The deck out back overlooks Little Bay and Key Allegro Marina. The deck bar is an excellent place to enjoy a cold one as well. The only better place to sit and take in the atmosphere of Rockport is Island House's front porch. There is a live band on the weekend. www.ParadiseKeyIslandGrill.com

Hu-Dat – If you like Vietnamese or Chinese food, this is as good as it gets. If you’re in the mood for good food that isn’t rich or heavy and not light on quantity either, check out Hu-Dat in Fulton.

Julie’s Backyard Bistro – Fine dining in a backyard - really. Go to Julie’s if you want to enjoy the company you’re with, have a fine meal and experience a different atmosphere. Don’t go to Julie’s if you’re in a hurry to eat – it’s gonna be a while. We highly recommend reservations.

Latitude 28°02' – This is our favorite restaurant in Rockport-Fulton. Atmosphere is cozy – white table cloths, hardwood floors and local art displayed. Shrimp Gilroy is consistently outstanding and different than anything else you can get in town. Service is the best in town. Now they have a fantastic full service bar that offers oysters on the half shell & and beer on tap.  www.latitude2802.com

Pop’s Tavern & Café – Don’t go to Pop’s for the atmosphere (or do!). This place is a local bar with a good burger, cold beer, crab balls and pool tables. Do not skip the crab balls and jalapeńo honey mustard sauce. On Park Road 13 in Lamar.

Tacqueria Puerta Vallerta – Go here for Tex-Mex lunch. Not many places bake their chile rellenos. Most places fry them. These are as good as it gets.

Bon Appetit from Island House!
